Walk the scenic waterfront of highway 154, around North Cove Road, to view an impressive display of historic homes and massive trees that have lined these streets for hundreds of years. If treading the lush greens of a golf course appeal to you, head to the Fenwick Golf Club, which dates back to 1896 and is open to the public year-round. For casual family fun, we recommend Clark Community Park, which has plenty of space for sports, a playground, and great spots to set up a picnic. In the center of town, there is also the Town Green, a quaint park with a gazebo that’s often used for town events.
Old Saybrook Heritage
Your first stop on the route to exploring Old Saybrook history should be at the Chamber of Congress to pick up a map for a self-guided tour of the town. As you follow the map, visit the Old Saybrook Historical Society’s headquarters at Hart House, built in 1767. “The Kate” is a must-see in town!
